First, I want to thank you for reading and subscribing to “Life at the Orphanage.” I make no secret about how much I love the children of Have Faith Haiti, and I am truly moved every time I read a comment that you have come to love them, too. That you have come to enjoy their music. That you have become invested in their futures. (And yes, I do read the comments!)
This one from Giovanna has stayed with me from the start:
Our shared human connection? It’s family.
It’s what I hoped by starting this project — that we could share in the universal lessons learned watching the purest of childhoods in one of the poorest places on earth. How the laughs, hardships, and joys of a big, sprawling, wildly different family might often remind you of your own.
By reading and supporting, you have become part of our family.
Since I published my first article, I’ve been asked by readers how they can support Have Faith Haiti. We’ve just launched the ability to do so through a paid subscription to “Life at the Orphanage.” As promised from the start, I will be donating all funds to support the direct operation of the orphanage.
Here’s how it will work:
I’ll continue publishing an article every week.
If you’d like to keep receiving an article each week, you can subscribe for $2.99/month or a one-time yearly payment of $29.99.
In addition to receiving all weekly articles, paid subscribers will receive a copy of “Have Faith Haiti Chronicles.” It’s a newsletter written and produced by the children and for the children. It’s created (mostly) monthly as part of a journalism and media class. You’ll get to hear directly from the kids!
As we have the ability offer more perks, I’ll add them as I am able to. This is new, and we’ll grow together.
If you wish to remain a subscriber but can’t or prefer not to upgrade, that’s OK! You’ll still receive and have access to 2 articles each month. Your support is still welcome as you read and share with others.
I hope you’ll continue reading and getting to know the wonderful and inspiring children who live there while also helping them continue to thrive.
If you’ve been having any trouble receiving these emails lately, please email email@example.com and let us know.
